Jazz Time Honey Black & White - Angels Fancy Dress Costumes
What do you think? I love the twenties look and also read Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella this trip which was about a girl who sees her dead aunt who is from the '20s. Yeah, it wasn't a great book. Certainly no Shopaholic. But I think it would be fun! And I reckon if I walk around Berlin every single day and not use the U-bahn or S-bahn, I'll have killer legs by the time the party rolls around.
And I want a black cropped wig. And a dress that swishes. And a cigaette holder.
Okay I'm going to get it. Thank you credit card! *halo*
In other news....
KRISTI IS COMING BACK OVER TO EUROPE TO TRAVEL WITH ME IN DECEMBER!
I am SUPER excited! Confirmed today, now just working out flights for her. I've booked us in for NYE in Berlin, which is going to ace! And what's even acer is I think my friends Nikki and Alex are also going to be in Berlin for NYE. I haven't had a fun NYE in ages. For 2007/08 I spent NYE with Lauren; we cooked dinner, which required me to slice up chillies. Come two in the morning and my hands were on fire! Mum and I ended up next door with my neighbour Nancey in the wee hours of the morning, all of us in our pyjamas trying to figure out which medical cream would stop my hands from burning and stinging. By the end of it I went to sleep holding an ice brick from the freezer, as it was the only thing that soothed my hands. Now when I cut up chillies I use gloves, or give the task to someone else.
NYE 2008/09 I worked. Yay.
So no matter what happens (within reason), this year's NYE can't be as bad as the last two.
Also I've been looking up Christmas markets and am getting very excited... so excited I've already started downloading Christmas songs. So now just working out which family friends we can stay with in Heidelberg and Budapest. Ahh, being of European stock has its many advantages.
So, last night I went out with my friend John who I met at my last hostel and he is great, he also looks like Ben Lee. He had two friends with him, one called Ben who has only recently come out and is adorable! The other, Pete is not so adorable. He is so jaded for a 21 year old! Sheesh! I thought I was pretty cynical, but I am Miss Mary-fucking-Sunshine in comparison to this guy. He lived in Denmark when he was younger and is all; "I'm just not overwhelmed by Europe like other Australians are who haven't lived overseas. I just don't see the big deal." in such a pompous, St Kilda (yes he is from Melbourne) voice. He just has this very arrogant, bordering on rude attitude and must be so unhappy with his life and himself that he feels the need to bring down everyone else's experiences. He is leaving for Denmark tomorrow so I will never have to deal with him and his negativity every again. If you're so indifferent to Europe then why go on exchange here?
And how can you be indifferent to Europe? Every single day is so different and it really is what you make of it. Also, look at what you'd be doing if you were still in Australia and compare it to what you're doing here. Here you're walking to the supermarket...right… but you're walking to the supermarket in Berlin! While, if you're at home you're just walking to the supermarket in your suburb. Wow. Watch out! I just don't understand his way of thinking and I refuse to be part of it.
I bought some knee-high suede boots with inner lining and my feet have never felt toastier! Team that with a long sleeve shirt, a tee over the top, a long cardigan, my big thick woollen coat and gloves and I was one very warm girl. I just need to find some cute little hats and beanies and then I am ready for a cold, European winter! Bring it on! I see all these girls walking around Berlin and they all look so warm yet stylish. I wish taking photos of people was more socially acceptable because I love the street fashion here. So much inspiration, I can’t wait to check out more of the London street fashion. Europeaners are so beautiful. I got a nice compliment from a girl the other day though. I was talking about how pretty Europeaners are, just their facial structure and everything and no wonder so many models are from Europe and she goes… “Well you look very European too.” Aw, nice. :-)
Can’t wait until this degree is over so I can get back here. I haven’t even left yet but my heart is hurting just thinking about it. So I won’t. I don't want to leeeeaaavvveeeeee! Even in Berlin after so many troubles and problems, I feel like I've found my place here a bit and now I'm leaving! Many tears will be shed I think. But the blow will be softened by the fact that John and I have arranged to have some awesome steak at the awesome steak restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg with the pretentious menus.
I think I love Berlin and I want to marry it. Maybe if I really get my German together I can come back after finishing my degree (and after working in Edinburgh) and live in Berlin. I feel like I would probably appreciate and enjoy this city more with a few more years under my belt. I love it here but I also feel so young. I feel torn... like the Natalie Imbruglia song.
I'm really looking forward to NYE here and showing Kristi and Vanessa around. I knwo this city better than I know Sydney! I think that has something to do with the fact that I live in the suburbs of Sydney, while here I'm in the city and left to my own devices. I am already making a list of things we have to do, some touristy because well, you can't come to Berlin and not be a tourist... but also quite a few non-touristy things.
Anyway, so in light of this slightly fashion-related post here are some cool pics of some Berlin street fashion I love:
Last night while we walking from Warschauer Straße U-bahn station at about 1am and from the bridge there you can see the o2 World stadium and usually the Alexanderplatz TV Tower, but due to it being so cold and there being so much fog the TV Tower was completely hidden. Such a shame because on a clear night it’s such a pretty view. The stadium is pretty fucking ugly but it’s more that it hits you when you see it each time, “Oh, I’m not in Sydney anymore, I’m in Berlin.” And then I walk off with a spring in my step.
Okay well I better go have my leftover pasta that I made last night before I head out. Who knew pasta was so freaking easy to make! Boiling water, noodles, pasta sauce, little bit of basil – done! And it’s cheap and you can have leftovers for the next day. Brilliant!
Ciao!
You're awesome, by the way. I love the costume - 20s stuff is always fun.
ReplyDeleteSuggestion for your posts - you should put the music at the start of each post so then we have a soundtrack while we read! It is SO much effort for me to scroll down, click the music, then scroll back up to read. Think of the children, Nicole!
You make a very good point Sarah! Will do so from now on! Did you want the HTML code? I think I was meant to give it to you aaaages ago!
ReplyDeleteActually I'm thinking of a different outfit now - and it's probably cheaper as the buying the wig is a killer!
Also I think you should skip uni and come to Hamburg with me! Do you actually HAVE to go to these classes, I mean really? ALSO I was thinking of foregoing my cousin's place on the 23rd and 24th and visiting you instead and then catching the train back to Bielefeld on the 25th. Would I be infringing on your study time? But you get home from uni heaps late yeah? Ugh. Bielefeld is SO boring. It's like the north west suburbs of Sydney. Shit.
